St. Vincent de Paul Society
at the heart of giving

The St. Vincent de Paul Society is a Catholic lay organization which involves its volunteer members in helping situations with those who are in need. SVDP helping includes any person-to-person assistance that promotes human dignity and integrity. In addition to assistance with the material necessities of life, members visit and offer companionship to those who are homebound, hospitalized, or confined to institutions.

As a reflection of the family of God, SVDP members are drawn from every ethnic and cultural background, age group, and economic level. They form small groups called "conferences" that meet regularly, pray together, and carry out their selected charitable works. They are united in the worldwide movement of the St. Vincent de Paul Society by a common philosophy and mutual sharing.

What St. Vincent de Paul Society does in the community:

Thrift Stores:

The Gift Certificate Program is at the heart of the thrift store's mission.   It allows 65 SVDP conferences (volunteer groups) to provide clothing, furniture, and household items by giving a family or individual a gift certificate to shop at the store.

Meal Program:

The average meal cost SVDP about $2.50 because most of the food is donated from churches, parishes, synagogues, and corporations. Volunteers purchase and cook the food, serve it with smiles and clean-up with the help of staff.

Family Resource Center:

The resource center helps families grow stronger to prevent child abuse and neglect.  Provides life skills education, creates a support system, and teached new coping strategies.  Works with children to develop positive attitudes and behaviors.
